Tax Manager

Job description

Our Head Office department is located in the heart of Piccadilly and occupies the 5th & 6th floor of our beautiful flagship store. This central London location, offers so much to explore including restaurants, bars, cultural sites, shopping and more, and only a short walk from the Green Park Tube Station and plenty of bus stops.

 

Role Purpose:

*       Take full ownership of all direct and indirect taxes

*       To design a tax compliance framework and reporting

*       To prepare and submit all direct and indirect tax returns

*       To liaise with tax advisors when and where needed

*       To review and address all compliance requirements independently and/or with a help of an external tax advisor

 

Reports to: 

Director of Finance

 

Key interfaces:

All F&M teams, external tax advisors and tax authorities

 

Key Accountabilities:

*       Maintain tax risk register, audit high risk areas at least once a year and maintain close contact with group tax team

*       Prepare and monitor tax reporting calendar for all jurisdictions

*       Collate data, prepare tax files for submission and make sure all taxes are paid by due date

*       Design reports and an automation process along with the technology and analyst teams

*       Work with external advisors on tax registrations/compliance in each country and designing a compliance/reporting manuals

*       Educate the business on various application of direct and indirect taxes, including VAT, GST and sales/use tax applicable for various products

*       To work closely with tax advisors on addressing historic and future risks, providing accurate data and answering all queries and requests in a timely manner

 
 

Role Specific Criteria (Experience/Behaviours/Technical Ability)

Essential:

-        In depth knowledge of UK and EU indirect tax legislation and reporting requirements

-        Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details

-        Good communication skills

-        Excellent excel skills – intermediate level or above

-        Ability to work within a dynamic fast-paced environment

-        Confident communication with external tax advisor and tax authorities

 

Desirable

-        ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics

-        Retail experience, ideally food business
